Holiday Shoppe

Holiday Shoppe helps more than 100 families annually, providing the opportunity for adults and children to exchange gifts during the holiday season as they work with TESSA to build lives of safety and self-sufficiency.

What is Holiday Shoppe?

Families living in TESSA’s Safehouse and other survivors in our community who receive services from TESSA are invited to TESSA’s main office to “shop” for age-appropriate gifts to give their family members. The families select gifts from a variety of new items donated to TESSA during November and December and of course, all ‘shopping’ for participants is free. Guardians and children can also have the gifts they’ve selected wrapped so they leave ready for their holiday celebration.

How Can You Help?

TESSA needs new gifts for infants, boys and girls, teen boys and girls, and adults. We are asking for your help in collecting gifts for these families. Hosting a one-day, one-week, or longer holiday drive is a great way to collect gifts and gift cards for families in need of some extra support this season!

What Types of Gifts Do We Need?

Any new gifts that are appropriate for the guardians to give children of all ages and/or gifts for kids to give to their guardians are much appreciated. A list of suggested items can be found by clicking here. We ask that all gifts please be delivered to TESSA’s main office by Friday, December 2nd.

We are in need of some jolly gift sorters, gift guides, and gift wrappers and we’re hoping you might be available to help out. We do not require completion of the TESSA Confidential Victim Advocate Training to participate as a volunteer for the Holiday Shoppe, but do ask that each individual keep in mind that our clientele has experienced domestic or sexual violence, and confidentiality and sensitivity are essential to their overall safety and wellbeing. We request that volunteers be a minimum of 16 years of age and if you have not completed a Confidentiality Agreement in the past one year, we’ll need to collect a new one in advance of your volunteer time. If you have any specific questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Lori at or 719-785-6818.

Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault (DVSA) affect our entire community and it is only through that community’s support that TESSA’s clients can successfully navigate the path from victim to survivor. The holidays are especially difficult for families forced to spend them in a shelter. Together we can help create happy memories for families experiencing an extremely difficult time in their lives. Thank you!
