Volunteer
Volunteers are an essential part of TESSA’s mission, helping us reach more survivors and provide critical support to individuals and families in our community. Their time, compassion, and dedication strengthen the services we offer and ensure that those experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, or human trafficking have access to the advocacy, resources, and care they deserve.
Individuals must be at least 18 years old to volunteer without a parent or guardian. Volunteer opportunities are thoughtfully matched based on individual interests, skills, and organizational needs to ensure a positive experience for everyone.
Groups interested in volunteering require additional coordination and should contact the Volunteer Coordinator directly to explore available opportunities.

Step 3. Waiting Period & Volunteer Screening
After submitting an application, applicants should allow time for TESSA’s Volunteer Coordinator to review their information and contact them regarding the next steps in the screening process. Training timelines vary for General Volunteers and Confidential Victim Advocate Volunteers. Specific training requirements and schedules will be discussed during the Volunteer Information Session.
Step 4. Confidential Victim Advocacy Training
Confidential Victim Advocacy (CVA) training is offered twice annually, in January and June. The training currently consists of 39 hours of instruction over approximately three weeks. Specific training dates and times will be provided to applicants once the screening process is complete.
Step 5. Placement & Additional Training
Following completion of the screening process and required training, volunteers will be placed within a TESSA department based on organizational needs, availability, and individual interests. Depending on their assigned role, volunteers may be required to complete additional department-specific training before beginning their volunteer service.

Group Volunteer Requests
TESSA welcomes group volunteers who are interested in supporting the organization through one time or short term projects. These opportunities vary based on the season and current needs and may include helping with events, organizing donations, preparing spaces, or supporting special projects. Group volunteer efforts provide a meaningful way for teams, organizations, and community groups to contribute together while supporting the work that helps survivors across our community.
